How to choose a drum school

You can learn the drums at a drum school or percussion studio, with a private teacher and at a club where people play together. In a one-to-one lesson the teacher works on your hands and posture and sets the pace for you. Group classes cost less and are more fun: from the very first lesson you learn to keep the beat with others.

Before your first lesson, ask whether there are instruments in the classroom, how many people are in a group and whether you can come to a trial lesson. Between lessons, try our metronome, drum parts for songs and cajon rhythms.
