What BPM is and why you need it
BPM means beats per minute — the tempo of a song. Once you know it, you can set the metronome, practice the part slower and then work up to the original tempo. The quickest way to find it is to tap along: after eight taps the result is accurate to one BPM.
From a file, the tempo is detected automatically. With slow songs the program sometimes finds double the tempo, so the half value is shown too: pick the one that matches your “one, two, three, four” count.
